RRI research affiliates are individuals who have successfully participated in and completed the public policy the internship program(s) and now have gone on to their careers in industry, non-profit, government, or academia.
“Being selected for the RRI CANADA internship program will expose you to an intensive training environment which will provide you the necessary skills to participate in contemporary issues and learn how to form public policy. These programs are open to anyone who is interested in learning and writing about public policy and regulation, as well as gaining valuable experience working with policy experts at a research institute.”
Anderson Agbugba completed the internship program in 2018. After graduating from the University of Manitoba with a Masters of Arts degree in public administration with key strengths and interests in policy development and analysis, along with strong interest in municipal governance/local public administration.
Deanne Brosnan completed the internship program in 2019. Deanne holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Memorial University in biological sciences and physical anthropology. Deanne is a free-lance editor, writer and graphic designer. Deanne was the publisher of an Alberta community magazine for several years.
Alexandra Burnett completed the internship program in 2018 after graduating from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and international studies. Alex has completed her Master of Public Administration at the University of Saskatchewan.
Dónal Gill completed the internship program in 2019 while finishing his Ph.D in political science and government. Dónal’s primary research focus is on 18th Century Political Philosophy with an emphasis on Jonathan Swift, Edmund Burke, and Montesquieu.
Jakob Glogauer completed the internship program in the summer 2021. He is currently a student at Ryerson University in the Radio and Television Arts program. Jakob’s main policy interests include foreign policy, defence, and political economics.
Nameetta Nierakkal completed the internship program in 2021. Nameetta is is currently completing her bachelors in Economics at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, India. Her areas of interest include public policy, development economics and feminist economics.
MacKenzie Sharp completed the internship program in 2021. He is currently a student at Oregon State University in International Affairs and French, and will graduate with his Bachelor of Arts in December 2021. MacKenzie’s policy interests include Canada-U.S. relations and trade policy.
Lirika Shkreli completed the internship program in 2020 after completing a Master of Arts in Public Policy from King’s College London and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Calgary. Lirika’s main policy interests include healthcare, immigration and trade policy.
Ronald Wu completed the internship program in 2021 while completing his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Computer Science at Columbia University in the City of New York. Ronald’s research interests include quantitative political research methods, international security and development, and authoritarian politics, with a regional focus on East Asia and Eastern Europe.
